Finished...?

Alright, so here are the latest pictures of the latest sculpture.
I feel it's done for now. I have to wait till it dries some more so i can go back and carve into it.
Woot.

Work in progress!

So, here is the newest piece.
It's still kinda rough, and the head looks a little awkward, but i think it's getting there.

I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do with it, but I knew I wanted a dramatic gesture.

Rosemary

New pictures of sculpture.
Less blurry ones to come.
So I've been working on this for the last couple of weeks. On and off. And on again.
I think it's working out rather nicely considering i had no model or picture reference.
Oh and Rosemary is a great herb.

Relief

Image needs work, but...
here it is, finally.
It needs final touches , but i think it's pretty alright.

Hurray!

So, life is good... kinda.

But yes, I have been working on the relief for a while now. It took me longer than i thought it was, but now it is cast in porcelain. It needs to be polished off for better presentation. I will post pictures soon.
Also, I have been working on a figure sculpture. The first one since I got home from school, so I'm very excited about it. So far I've been working on proportions and all. It's being based off of another sculpture from years past. It's somewhat difficult to find a model around here, so i had to improvise. Anyway, I will post pictures of the work in progress soon.

Jesus

My attempt at pop-art.
Hurray.
The Pink one is about 40" by 50". The smaller one is like 40" by 36" or something.

Relief

New work in progress.
It's a relief in plasticine, had it laying around for months, and now I'm working on it.
It looks pretty rough, proportion wise and feature wise, but it should be looking better within the next couple of days.
Also, it's a little hard to work out of my head, but I have complete and utter freedom. Woot.

Hummingbird

Latest piece. Bad picture, excuse it.

This piece is going to Happi Boutique in Homewood, Al.
The piece, along with other works, will be shown in the store for a month. The pieces will then be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to support Magic City Harvest.

Why hummingbird?
Because if you look hard enough, you'll see it.

Thrown Salad Bowl

Alright.
This was my second attempt at throwing and I actually produced something worth keeping. It's about the size of a salad bowl. I put some white slip on the inside and I think I'll glaze it with the turquoise. I think it'll work out.

Slump Dish

Alright, so this was one of the attempts at slumping some clay. I was trying to get it as thin as possible. I then glazed it with Nutmeg and Royal turquoise. I was pleased. The red parts are another glaze that didn't quite work out, but whatever.

Picture of Show

So i finally have a picture of the show and the new painting.
It's not great quality since it was dark and all, but i think it looks pretty alright.

Show and other Such Things

Alright,
So I'm gonna be in a show today for an open house sort of thing in downtown Homewood. Woot!
Also, I will post pictures soon of pottery stuff and the show of course. The Fruit painting from the last post, I don't have a picture, but I looks like fruit. It was actually a pretty rewarding experience, so I think I may do more of those. Bu then again, maybe not. Oh well.

Fruit

I'm painting fruit.
Yes.
I'm gonna paint fruit because that's where it's at.

Collaborative Assemblage

New post!
after a while.
Woot!

So.
Boredom leads to creativity... or so they say.
Suitcase and lots of random significant stuff make for a good time and good art.
Basically we follow our instincts and placed them in there.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Me and a couple of friends decided that we need to collaborate and create something. Then, a gift from a neighbor starts the wheel to motion( not sure how I would re-phrase that saying) anyways, after some collecting of random objects we had gathered throughout our lives, we get to work and create this.
I think it's cool, and will do more.
Working with friends is fun!

Porcelain

Alright, so here it is, not completed, but close. A porcelain bust.
I have to say it looks better than my previous portraits. It looks more feminine and such. I guess I had some one to model for me for reference not so much to make a portrait. Nevertheless, it looks pretty alright. I've yet to refine it though as I need it to be more solid than it is so i can carve away at it.
Also, I'm not sure I'll continue with the porcelain, it is a bit of a hassle. But We'll see how it turns out once it is fired.

Art Walk and Such

Well, It's been nearly a month since my last post. Kinda sad really. But It'll be alright.
Anyway, I finally applied to public showing event. Sadly, the only requirement was three pictures. My work is pretty diverse, so that made it hard. But I stuck to my guns and showed my thesis work. I hope it all goes well.

Teapot

This one resembles the sketches more faithfully. It is my second attempt. It still needs some polishing around the corners, so I'll post another image at a later date when it is complete.

This one here is the first one i did. I used the coiling technique because I currently lack a throwing wheel. Yes, it is lumpy, but I think it gives it character.

These here are the sketches for a couple of teapots.
They are basically three dimensional versions of my paintings.
Why a teapot you might ask? Because it's cool.
It is a simple yet complex form consisting of three parts: The vessel, the handle and the spout.

A Wedding

Sure, the title is misleading, but in a way it isn't.
My Cousin's wedding was today, it was alright and all, and so on. But today I post something interesting I discovered: Pastel.
For some great reason canvas cause the pastel to jump out in a way that is just perfect. Sure, it may have been done before. I was just playing around with it and this is the result.
I have to say I am very pleased with the results and plan on using this medium in my larger works.

T-Shirt

I designed a t-shirt... well, sort of.
It's a church thing, like many of my projects have been for the past year I've been home.
Yeah, it's pretty alright I think for my first designy kinda work. But I have to admit, the font was found at other places.
the phrase says "Dare"
