House On Dundas West

I finally have the opportunity to post this first painting completed in Canada.
It was a rather interesting experience having to work in a dimly lit basement from a tiny three inch screen with children constantly inquiring about what it was that I was doing and trying to touch my palette, or should I say the paint on it.

I see there are certain things about the painting that i should have given more thought to, like the bottom part where the sidewalk seems to extend forward, as well as the sides of the entire piece. I should've just left the house be. Looking back at it, it's not very complete after all...
Oh well, next time.

This piece will be the start of a series based on the architecture of various parts of the city. In addition to the Cathedral series I plan on starting, hopefully sometime this week, now that things have somewhat settled.

New Piece

So I finally got my self together enough to start a new painting.
I just started the sketch today and I'm actually pretty excited about it.
It basically continues my body of work in a slightly different direction. I decided to take real life objects/ scenes and use these very directly into the abstract work.
the painting consists of a house in downtown Toronto that caught my eye. I'm going to start with a rather faithful rendition. I will then take certain liberties, as it is customary for an artist to do.
We'll see how it goes.
Pictures to come.

Now From Canada!

So it's been a long time since the last update.
As soon as I get settled I should be posting work ad such other things. In the mean time I suppose I could update with other events such as how awesome Toronto is and how interesting London (Ontario) could be.

Well, more to come.

New Piece

A new piece i started a couple days ago.

In this one i decided to go with a more contemporary look. I suppose it's mainly about the hair. It's still in its beginning stages. The eyes need work since they look cartoon like, the lips a bit droopy and need refinement, and the hair needs more definition on certain areas. It's a good start to a new approach I will be trying for the next couple of pieces.

Bust with Braid

So this piece has been taking a lot longer than originally anticipated.
I'm almost done with it.
This is the first bust i've done with, well, bust.

Drawing Machine mark II

A little background:
Freshman year i made a small contraption that made scribbles on paper. I was truly fascinated by this. It was rather basic; pretty much a pen tied to a small electric motor.

Well, I've decided to make a second version of this device. One with a broader range of motion. I have not decided what will determine the motion of the drawing tool, but it will most likely be something that has random movement.

This will serve as a model for something bigger. Well, at least that's the plan.
